No Stigma at Nico's House.

The disease of addiction kills more people in this country than anything else, but for those suffering from this disease and loved ones and friends supporting them, those numbers mean nothing.  We are here to lend support in some small way.  We post helpful articles, information and supportive advice.

Nico's House was founded in honor of Nico Scroggy.  Nico struggled with addiction for three years. Nico's drug of choice was heroin.  His quest for treatment took him from his home in Saratoga Springs, NY to treatment facilities in Glenville, NY and Rochester, NY and ultimately to Florida.  While in treatment he managed to stay sober for months long stretches but unfortunately he would relapse.  Nico died of bronchial pneumonia while in treatment. He died less than a month after turning 20.  We are currently working on legislature that would create a protocol for treatment just like any other disease.  Had there been any type of medical screening, Nico might be alive today.  We also have created a $500.00 annual scholarship at Lake George Central School for a graduating senior who is attending a trade or technical school.  Nico graduated from Lake George and became a welder.  Other scholarships include help in paying co-pays, help in buying necessities for those headed into treatment who cannot afford them, and possibly help in transportation to treatment program.  In order to support these programs we sell tee-shirt, bracelets, and medical alert dog tags for those in recovery. We also hold various fundraisers throughout the year.
